my day book

OUTSIDE MY WINDOW...

sunny with a steady breeze, cool morn but will be 105 today :(

I AM THINKING...

how much time i worry over my pets... indy had his baby shots yesterday and has been so sick it makes me want to cry... i could never have been a mother, i am a worry wort when things can't speak... it seams so wrong to give meds that make them ill.

I AM THANKFUL FOR...

everything today, but especially my husband~

FROM THE KITCHEN...

we were going to bbq yesterday, but the day got away from us... tonight we need to grill ribs and london broil, white corn and asparagus. i should make a fun dessert, but i bet the heat will have me thinking different very soon~

I AM WEARING...

green and white sundress.

I AM CREATING...

a faux life away from home? been dreaming of a second home in fl, the prices are so much better then west coast...

I AM GOING...

to be doing the mundane this week, bills, errands etc...

I AM READING...

i finished peony in love and LOVED it, was a tough go to find time but strongly suggest it. read thunderstruck about marconi, i say skip it, i thought it was dry because its tech talk, gave to my husband who loves that stuff, he closed it up on the first chapter and said dull... just started the madonna's of leningrad about a woman that helped protect the art work in the hermitage from the germans.

I AM HOPING...

indy is better by tonight, it is to sad to hear him cry, he has been through enough already...

I AM HEARING...

the fan and a helicopter overhead. checked, thank heavens no fire, just pge moving poles into the hills.

AROUND THE HOUSE...

should tidy up, but time will tell, never committed to cleanliness! will spend time either huddled by the fan, or in the pool, i hate hot...

ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS...

cool sea breezes... which i am severely lacking inland!

A FEW PLANS FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK...

we didn't get the puppies last week, cassie is now sick so another 2 weeks... i think... i find this whole shelter purchase so odd, no longer can you buy a pet and leave with it, by law they must be spayed or neutered... sounds great, in my day we brought them back to do it, now they MUST hold them. meanwhile. they both got kennel cough and then jasper got parvo so too sick for surgery. it will me a month since i paid for them before i can get them... i find it heart breaking that they are in cages, unloved, untrained, getting sick when i could have removed them healthy and come back for surgeries and spared them from all of this...

ps... i am enjoying the extra time bonding with maggie, and tending to indy... shhh don't tell the puppies when they get here...

will call the shelter again to see if i can get them this week, but not optimistic...

PICTURE THOUGHT...

pretty much my life, pets, wildlife and garden. i have 3 brug trees in my front yard, they are about 10'x12' and full throttle blooming right now... the fragrance is beyond imagination... you could take a spoon and savor it~

*this idea comes from a simple woman's daybook. i enjoy once a week quietly reflecting on my week...

Sounds wonderful Jain! I love that sweet doggie face....I have those same baby deer...three of them living in the woods behind my house...they and their mamas have eaten almost everything in my garden this year...a whole bed of black eyed susans...this year I do not care...they are so cute...they were the size of a little cat when they were born....

I was just wondering what type of flower is in the picture posted underneath the picture of your blue and white china with the white cookies? It is beautiful.

What a sweet, contented looking pup. I'll keep a good thought for you - maybe you will get to pick up the babies this week after all.

P.S. You would have made an excellent mother... you are an excellent mother! I think all your furry little babies would attest to that...

Dear Jain, I love beginning MY week with YOUR reflections!

AND .... I made the marinated portabella salad last night for my dinner. Words cannot express how yummy it was! Thank you very much!

Loved the photos & Maggie's such an angel in her's. Hope Indy is feeling better soon.

Yikes - I'm so worried now about Jasper! Parvo isn't something to mess with. ARGH!

I am so with you on what happened to the easy way!!! you could have been loving on those BABIES! Everyone is so afraid of being held liable for something...

My iris shoots have put up a new leaf in the front yard. The ones in back are having a bit more trouble. I think the dirt is not as good there & maybe more sun & a little less water. Can't wait to send you pictures in the spring.

Stay cool. We are at 104 today & had to be at a funeral out at noon. TALK ABOUT UNBEARABLE!

Soon you will have all your new babies at home to pamper and love. It is such a shame to have to leave them at the shelter, but I suppose they have their reasons. Just seems that like humans in hospitals, when animals are in shelters - they are exposed to more germs. I always dreaded taking my pets to the kennel - because they would come back with kennel cough.

I agree, they wouldn't be sick if you hadn't been forced to leave them. Rules make no sense sometimes. I hope Indy is feeling better. Shots make them feel achy. Mom and chicken soup help!
Love your Monday posts...

I don't understand why you have to leave them!! Why do they make it hard for people, when there are so many animals that need adopting?
